Delhi : The Bharat Mobility Global Auto Expo, which is kicking off in Delhi, is showcasing unique cars and bikes from both national and international brands. Olectra Greentech Limited (OGL) has unveiled its next-generation electric bus at this event. Remarkably, this bus can cover 500 kilometers on a single charge. This means that you can travel to destinations like Nashik, Pune, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Nagar, Konkan, and Sawantwadi without needing to recharge.
Olectra showcased its latest offerings, including the newly designed 12-meter battery blade platform, as well as the newly styled 9-meter city and 12-meter coach buses equipped with blade batteries. This development is particularly significant for Maharashtra, as Olectra has been awarded the contract to provide electric buses to the Maharashtra State Transport Corporation. Along with this Shivai and Shivneri, 9 meter small buses are also supplied to Mahamandalala in phases every month.
Blade Battery Technology
The blade battery offers 30% more energy storage capacity, enabling buses to travel up to 500 kilometers on a single charge. These batteries are more compact, lighter, and can endure over 5000 charge cycles, making them a durable and reliable option for the future of electric vehicles. The company claims these batteries have passed stringent international tests without incidents such as fire or explosion.
Features
The buses are equipped with advanced safety features such as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), GPS tracking, and CCTV cameras. They also offer facilities like air suspension, wheelchair ramps, making them accessible for differently-abled passengers.
Environmental Impact
Compared to traditional diesel buses, electric buses present a sustainable alternative by reducing dependence on fossil fuels and cutting down on India’s fuel imports. This shift not only lowers operational costs but also significantly improves air quality in urban areas. Olectra has firmly established itself in the electric tipper market.
