Aditya Birla Capital Limited and Sun Life (India) AMC Investments Inc. are the promoters and major shareholders of the Company. ABSLAMC is primarily the investment manager of Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund, a registered trust under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882. The Category III, close-ended, multi-cap equity Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) focusing on special situations has received total commitments of over ₹500 crore, from nearly 400 investors, reflecting strong investor interest in special situations–led equity strategies.
The fund, managed by Sameer Narayan, Head – Alternate Investment Equity at ABSLAMC, is designed to capitalise on temporary market dislocations arising from company-specific, industry, regulatory, geopolitical, and behavioural or technological factors. Structured as a five-year close-ended fund, extendable by up to two additional years with investor consent, the fund follows a multi-cap approach, investing across large, mid, and select small-cap opportunities. The portfolio construction focuses on 25–30 high-conviction stocks, backed by strong balance sheets, quality management, disciplined capital allocation, and robust risk management processes. The strategy seeks to identify fundamentally strong businesses that are poised to benefit from micro and macro turnarounds, corporate events such as demergers or deleveraging, management changes, shifts in business cycles, and secular growth opportunities, with investments typically expected to play out over a 2–3-year horizon.
Commenting on the final close, A. Balasubramanian, Managing Director & CEO, Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC Ltd., said, “The successful final close of our India Special Opportunities Fund reflects growing investor interest in differentiated equity strategies that can navigate market volatility and capture value from structural and cyclical dislocations. With India’s evolving economic landscape creating frequent pockets of mispricing, our strategy is well-positioned to identify quality businesses at attractive entry points. With investor commitments of over ₹500 crore and substantial capital already deployed, the fund underscores growing confidence in our special opportunities approach and our disciplined investment process.”
