The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of East Jaintia Hills has clarified reports circulating on social media claiming that Riniwanki Sukhlain gave birth inside a vehicle after being delayed by road obstructions related to the public hearing for the proposed Shree Cement Limited project.

According to the Deputy Commissioner, he investigated the matter by seeking information from the Block Medical and Health Officer (BMHO), Saipung Block. Based on the findings of the inquiry, the administration stated that the claim circulating on social media was false.

The Deputy Commissioner stated that, according to the medical authorities, Riniwanki Sukhlain delivered her baby at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Sutnga, on 31 July 2026, around 11:15 AM, and not inside a vehicle as had been widely reported on social media.
