Lucknow : Flipkart, India’s homegrown e-commerce marketplace, today reaffirmed its long-term commitment to Uttar Pradesh, where its investments in digital commerce, infrastructure and market access continue to enable MSMEs, artisans, farmers and entrepreneurs to participate in India’s digital economy at scale. Supporting nearly 7 lakh direct and indirect livelihoods and enabling over 8.5 lakh sellers across the state, Flipkart has grown alongside Uttar Pradesh as it has emerged as one of India’s most dynamic centres for entrepreneurship, manufacturing and digital commerce. From the silk looms of Varanasi and the chikankari ateliers of Lucknow to the brassware workshops of Moradabad, the state’s rich artisanal and entrepreneurial legacy is finding new opportunities through digital commerce, connecting local businesses with customers across India and contributing to the state’s economic transformation.

Flipkart’s presence in Uttar Pradesh is anchored by approximately 24 lakh sq. ft. of logistics infrastructure, comprising fulfilment and sorting centres, along with more than 220 grocery, city and last-mile hubs across the state. Together, this network supports nearly 7 lakh direct and indirect livelihoods while enabling faster market access for sellers, improving customer experience and stronger supply chain connectivity across Uttar Pradesh. The growth of Flipkart Minutes is also strengthening local sourcing, enabling fresh produce and everyday essentials to move more efficiently from producers to consumers across Uttar Pradesh.

“Uttar Pradesh is one of India’s most entrepreneurial and dynamic states. Over the years, we have had the privilege of working alongside the state’s MSMEs, artisans, farmers and entrepreneurs to expand market access, strengthen supply chains and create livelihoods through technology and digital commerce. We are grateful for the continued support and partnership of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, which has helped create an enabling environment for innovation, entrepreneurship and investment. As India’s homegrown e-commerce marketplace, Flipkart is proud to contribute to Uttar Pradesh’s growth journey by creating opportunities for businesses, communities and consumers across the state.” said Kalyan Krishnamurthy Chief Executive Officer, Flipkart Group.

Uttar Pradesh’s entrepreneurs are at the heart of the state’s digital commerce growth story. Today, more than 8.5 lakh sellers from across Uttar Pradesh access national markets through Flipkart’s marketplace. Since partnering with the Government of Uttar Pradesh under its flagship One District One Product (ODOP) initiative in 2020, Flipkart has helped expand market access for the state’s iconic products, from Banarasi silk and chikankari to brassware, carpets, woodcraft and leather goods, bringing Uttar Pradesh’s rich artisanal heritage to customers across India. Sellers onboarded under Flipkart Samarth have grown by 50% year-on-year, reflecting the increasing adoption of digital commerce among traditional artisan and MSME communities.

Flipkart’s commitment to Uttar Pradesh extends beyond enabling digital commerce. Farmer empowerment is another important pillar of the Group’s work in the state. Through a range of farmer-centric initiatives, including Walmart Foundation-supported programmes,

Flipkart is helping strengthen market access, improve livelihoods and build more resilient agricultural value chains. These initiatives have supported more than 85,000 smallholder farmers across 27 districts, over 75% of them women, through more than 100 Farmer Producer Organisations. Complementing these efforts, Flipkart Samarth Krishi has sourced over 3 lakh kg of produce from Uttar Pradesh-based Farmer Producer Organisations, strengthening farm-to-market linkages while creating better income opportunities for farmers. Through the Flipkart Foundation, the Group has also reached over 26,000 beneficiaries across six districts through programmes spanning nutritious mid-day meals in partnership with the Akshaya Patra Foundation, support for nano and micro entrepreneurs, youth skilling, women’s empowerment and care for vulnerable children. Across its operations, Flipkart continues to advance sustainable growth through greater adoption of electric mobility, rooftop solar, circular economy initiatives and responsible waste management.

Across the Flipkart Group, Uttar Pradesh continues to play an important role in creating opportunities across commerce, fashion and tourism. Myntra works with more than 3,100 sellers and nearly 4,700 brands across the state, providing artisans, weavers and MSMEs, including Banarasi silk and chikankari craftspeople, a national platform to grow. Cleartrip is supporting Uttar Pradesh’s emergence as one of India’s leading spiritual and heritage tourism destinations by connecting travellers to Varanasi, Ayodhya, Agra, Prayagraj and the Mathura–Vrindavan circuit, contributing to the state’s growing visitor economy.

Flipkart’s journey in Uttar Pradesh reflects the power of long-term partnerships between government, entrepreneurs and technology in expanding economic opportunity. It also reflects a shared belief that digital commerce can be a powerful enabler of inclusive growth, helping local enterprises, artisans, farmers and communities participate more fully in India’s growth story. Flipkart values the continued support and partnership of the Government of Uttar Pradesh in creating an enabling environment for innovation, entrepreneurship and digital commerce.
