The Walkaroo Foundation has launched a cutting-edge initiative called Munnetram 360° that aims to equip Government school students with vital life skills and make them reality-ready to survive in today’s world overwrought by stiff challenges and tough goals. The initiative by the Walkaroo Foundation, which is the CSR arm of Walkaroo International Pvt Ltd, is a staggered program featuring the SHIPE model that focuses on the children's Societal, Health, Interpersonal, Personal, and Emotional development.
To start with, Walkaroo Foundation launched the initiative Munnetram 3600°at GHSS Chettipalayam. The first session of the program focused on making students aware of drug abuse and its negative consequences on mental health. The following session educated the students about the harmful consequences of tobacco usage, with the key message being substance abuse could gradually damage the functioning of the brain.
Commenting on these initiatives, Ms.Sumitra Binu, Head- CSR , Walkaroo Foundation said, “Walkaroo Foundation seeks to educate and uplift students by offering adequate knowledge on vital issues such as drug usage and mental health, with a goal of improving the young minds of India. We are proud of our efforts in assisting so many students through our projects. The Foundation believes in providing substantial aid to school students and looks forward to a brighter future for the society ."
The holistic development series further included a session on the importance of maintaining good health and hygiene. The significance of efficient time management and training in emotion regulation, both positive and negative, through a series of exercises were taught to the students, in the subsequent sessions. The Munnetram 360° series concluded with an activity based training on the importance of sound, words, and body language in effective communication for the students.
In addition to these awareness sessions, a play titled “Nervazhi” was organized and performed by Walkaroo International Private Limited and GHSS Chettipalayam, as a part of the Children’s Day celebration. The objective of the play was to increase awareness and understanding the risk associated with substance abuse. The students and employees from Walkaroo participated in the play. The play also marked the culmination of the sessions offered as part of Munnetram 360° project at GHSS, Chettipalayam.
Currently the project is in progress in five more selected government schools in Coimbatore viz., GHSS Chettipalayam, GHSS Madukkarai, GHS J J Nagar, GHSS Malumichampatti and GHSS Vellalore. The various sessions of the projects conducted in the mentioned schools, saw active engagement and participation of the students, which spread contagious enthusiasm. Subject-matter experts who were also capable of inspiring the students in different ways led each of the sessions.
