Mumbai: Addressing the August gathering of businessmen, entrepreneurs, and foreign dignitaries Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the stage as a chief guest at the 9th edition, The Times Group ET NOW Global Business Summit 2025 being held at Hotel Taj Palace. He was welcomed by Vineet Jain, MD, The Times Group.

The Prime Minister informed that the government’s transformative reforms are driving economic momentum and boosting business sentiment. “In India’s journey towards becoming a Viksit Bharat, our government sees the private sector as a key partner, " he said. The PM reminded the audience that whatever he had promised in the last Summit, he has fulfilled all of them and that is the importance of The Global Summit.

"India's robust economic reforms, especially in the banking sector are yielding results. Public sector banks have recorded a historic profit of ₹1.25 lakh crore in April–December 2024. To further enhance ease of doing business, we are launching a Deregulation Commission to reduce government involvement and simplify compliance for businesses," he assured the gathered delegates from all over the world.

He further added that the private sector is very important for Viksit Bharat. “Encouraged by the response to the opening of the space sector, I now announce the opening up of the nuclear energy sector for private participation. This will enable the private sector to participate more aggressively in the nation's growth story,” he added.

Talking about the robust banking system in the country, the PM said that a decade ago, India's banking system was in crisis, millions of people were outside the formal banking network, and access to credit was a challenge. “Today, we have transformed the landscape, ensuring financial inclusion for all. What was once considered impossible is now a reality, with banking services reaching every corner of the nation,” he reiterated. “Banking the unbanked, Securing the unsecured, and funding the unfunded, this is our strategy,” he added.
