Hyderabad, India/Abu Dhabi, UAE : UAE's leading small arms manufacturer CARACAL, part of the EDGE Group, and India's ICOMM Tele Limited (a MEIL Group company) launched a state-of-the-art firearms manufacturing facility in Hyderabad under the 'Make in India' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' vision. This marks the first transfer of defence technology from the UAE to India.
The facility will produce advanced firearms including:
- CAR 816 Battle Rifle (5.56x45mm NATO),
- CAR 817 Assault Rifle (7.62x51mm NATO),
- CSR series precision sniper rifles, and
- CMP9 submachine guns and combat pistols.
This initiative aims to meet the needs of Indian armed forces, state police, and special forces, while also supporting CARACAL’s global exports.
ICOMM Managing Director Sumanth Paturu emphasized this move as a testament to their commitment to India's defence needs and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of self-reliance. CARACAL CEO Hamad Alameri highlighted the importance of this partnership in strengthening the UAE-India defence ecosystem.
The facility is set to become a cornerstone of India's journey toward self-reliance in defence, supporting both domestic and international requirements.
