“2025 has been a year of positive reforms for customers. Be it GST exemption for individual health insurance plans, or initiatives to make insurance simpler and easier for customers to understand or the recent insurance amendment bill that is aimed to protect the interest of policyholders and deepen the penetration of insurance across remote geographies, overall it focusses on shaping up better insurance aware India, and move the product up in consideration as a crucial financial instrument of the customers. A notable activity during the year was also the launch an awareness driven campaign – ‘Acha Kiya Insurance Liya’ by General Insurance Council of India, where every insurer collaborated towards the cause of nudging citizens on importance of insurance, reiterating the intent of the sector to reach the last mile.
Keeping consumer awareness at the core, technology has been a key enabler for better reach and better service deliveries. The increased adoption of AI/GenAI and technology has enabled insurers to address factors like faster claims resolution, hyper-personalise communication, enhance fraud detection, speed up grievance resolution among many – strengthening trust between policyholders and insurers. Besides, the collaboration of the insurers with the new-age digital partners and launch of data driven digital ecosystems, managed to erase the challenges of geographical boundaries, making reach to the un-insured population seamless and in seconds. Increasingly, insurers are tapping every customer touch-points, making it accessible in true-sense.
As 2025 draws to a close, I am looking forward to a more progressive and Insurance inclusive India. Aligned with IRDAI’s goal of ‘Insurance for All by 2047’, I envision a country where every individual is financially protected against health related uncertainties, doesn’t have to worry about their motor breakdowns, abides in a secure home, travels the world worry free, and is cyber secure. I am looking forward to a nation where every business thrives without worrying about the uncertain risks, and no farmer need to worry about the fate of their crops due to natural calamities.
My sincere thanks to our government authorities, regulators, partners, stakeholders and employees of the entire insurance fraternity in continuing their tireless efforts to sensitise the customers on importance of insurance and make the product affordable and accessible for every India. I believe together we are geared up for a more insurance conducive 2026.”
