Event graced by Ms. Hekani Jakhalu, MLA & Advisor (Industries and Commerce), Government of Nagaland, and senior dignitaries from Bank of Baroda, RBI, NABARD and SLBC
Chumoukedima, Nagaland : Bank of Baroda, one of India’s leading public sector banks, today organized a Financial Inclusion Saturation Camp at Bade Village, Chümoukedima District, Nagaland. The event was part of the ongoing nationwide Saturation Campaign launched by the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, Government of India. The campaign, being conducted from July 1 to September 30, 2025, aims to achieve universal coverage of financial inclusion and social security schemes at the Gram Panchayat (GP) and Urban Local Body (ULB) level. The meet witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 700 villagers, highlighting the growing need for financial literacy and accessible banking services in rural areas.
The programme was graced by Ms. Hekani Jakhalu, Hon’ble MLA & Advisor (Industries and Commerce), Government of Nagaland; Ms. Shreyansee Jain, IAS, SDO (Civil) Chümoukedima District; Ms. Beena Vaheed, Executive Director, Bank of Baroda; Mr. Sonam Tshering Bhutia, General Manager and Zonal Head, Northeast Zone, Guwahati, Bank of Baroda; Mr. Gobinda Biswas, DGM (Business Development), North East Zone, Guwahati; Mr. K. Samuel Liangousian, AGM, RBI Kohima; Shri O.P. Mounglang, DGM, NABARD, Nagaland; Mr. Khosato H Keyho, Secretary, Bade Village Council; Mr. Vivek Das, Regional Manager, Bank of Baroda, Jorhat Region; along with representatives from SLBC, Nagaland; officials from RBI and NABARD, and other dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering, Smt. Beena Vaheed, Executive Director, Bank of Baroda, said, “Financial inclusion opens the door to self-reliance by providing essential tools like savings, insurance, and credit. Initiatives like these connect policy with the communities they are designed to serve. They ensure that households have direct access to banking services, social security and government-backed schemes. The strong participation in Bade Village shows the growing trust in formal banking and its role in empowering families across Nagaland.”
Sanction letters and cheques for various government-backed schemes were received by the beneficiaries at the event. Dedicated stalls were set up to facilitate Re-KYC of accounts, opening of PMJDY accounts, and enrolments under PMJJBY, PMSBY and APY. Business Correspondents (BCs) were also present to assist citizens and create awareness about financial products.
This Mega Camp exemplifies the collective commitment of the banking fraternity to further the Government of India’s vision of universal financial access and inclusive growth.
