The appointment of Frederic Martin as John Cockerill India Limited’s (JCIL) Managing Director w.e.f August 01, 2025, was announced in the recently concluded Board Meeting.

Based on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, the Board of Directors of the Company at its meeting held on July 29, 2025, subject to the approval of the shareholders and the Central Government, and such other approvals, as necessary have approved the appointment of Frederic Martin as Managing Director commencing from August 1, 2025.

Frederic (Fred) holds a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from ENSAM (Ecole Nationale Sup des Arts et Metiers). He joined John Cockerill in 2005 as General Manager of CMI Thermline and then promoted as Vice President Operations. In 2009, he moved to Beijing (China) to serve as General Manager for seven years, followed by a four-year stint in Salem (USA). In 2021, Fred returned to Belgium to become Vice President for Metals Business Line of Industry Sector. Fred has previously worked with Fives Stein, Shanghai Stein Heurtey, Durmech Engineering before joining John Cockerill Group.

With more than 35 years of experience within international business environment, mainly within ferrous and non-ferrous metal sectors in various functions. Fred has robust skill sets that includes steel processing engineering, training, leadership, continuous improvement, project management and more. With his vast experience in general management, business planning, project management, contract negotiations, international transactions, sales and others, Fred is capable of delivering productivity, operations and process efficiency that will impact the bottom-line of the organization.

Effective August 1st, Fred will relocate to India to take over as Managing Director of John Cockerill India Limited, succeeding Michael Kotas. He will be tasked with advancing the growth strategy successfully launched under Michael’s leadership. In addition to his new role, Fred will continue to serve as Vice President Metals at John Cockerill Industry, bringing his global expertise and strategic insight to further reinforce our position in the Indian market.

After two years as Managing Director of John Cockerill India Limited, Michael Kotas will work closely with Fred through the end of August to ensure a smooth transition, before returning to Europe for new responsibilities within the Group.
