Mumbai: Magicbricks, India`s leading real estate platform, has observed a growing focus on sustainability in new residential developments on its platform, with 28.4% of premium projects[1] launched in the last two years integrating eco-friendly features such as rainwater harvesting, waste disposal systems, and water storage facilities.
Among major real estate hubs, Delhi-NCR leads the way, with 32% of these projects incorporating sustainable amenities, followed by Navi Mumbai and Thane (29% each) and Kolkata (23%).
The platform also observed that the most common sustainable features found in these projects include rainwater harvesting (72% of projects), waste disposal systems (52%), and water storage facilities (45%). More advanced features, such as sewage treatment plants (14%), solar energy solutions (13%), and energy-efficient systems, are also making their way into new developments.
Developers are also recognizing the value of green infrastructure in enhancing property appeal and long-term investment potential. Notably, sustainability-focused projects have witnessed remarkable capital appreciation in the past year. This trend highlights the increasing investor confidence in green projects, driven by both higher resale value and increased rental yields.
As sustainability gains momentum in Indian real estate, developers and homebuyers alike are aligning towards an environmentally conscious future”where green homes are not just an ethical choice, but a smart financial investment.
