Mumbai : HMC E-Valley Pvt. Ltd. (HIVE), the Hi-Tech Valley for advanced manufacturing for e-mobility, and KPIT Technologies Limited, a global leader in mobility software, today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement establishes an Independent Center of Excellence (CoE) in Delhi-NCR to cater to design and engineering services for global micromobility and L-category electric vehicles (LEVs) OEMs, including e-bicycles.

As urbanization accelerates and cities seek sustainable transport solutions, the need for multimodal mobility has never been greater. Micromobility—through light electric vehicles like e-scooters and others —offers practical answers for first- and last-mile connectivity, addressing both convenience and climate-conscious lifestyles. With over 50% of travel today occurring in last-mile segments, this space is poised to transform. KPIT’s deep expertise in leveraging software, combined with HIVE’s strong legacy in this segment positions the partnership to deliver innovative, technology-driven solutions that will redefine the urban mobility.

“The Light Electric Vehicle industry is at a pivotal juncture, demanding a fusion of cutting-edge hardware and smart software. This partnership with KPIT is a powerful convergence of those forces, signifying HIVE’s deep commitment to redefining urban mobility by delivering the next generation of high-quality, sustainable micromobility solutions globally.” – Mr. Pankaj M Munjal, Chairman of HMC (Hero Motors Company)

“The future of mobility, even at the micromobility level, is defined by intelligent software and seamless systems integration. KPIT’s deep domain expertise in mobility technology  will be crucial in equipping the Center of Excellence to develop world-class, cost-effective, and safe LEV platforms. We are excited to combine our software leadership with HIVE’s manufacturing excellence to accelerate the journey toward safer, smarter, and cleaner transportation.” – Mr. Kishor Patil, CEO & Managing Director of KPIT Technologies

This strategic partnership is global in scope and is designed to create end-to-end capabilities for the rapidly growing Light EV segment. The CoE will leverage HIVE’s strengths in business development, client engagement, prototyping, and manufacturing enablement, while KPIT will lead solutioning, engineering delivery, program management, detailed design, and software/systems integration.

By combining HIVE’s scalable manufacturing excellence and supply chain efficiencies with KPIT’s AI infused mobility solutions and operational management, this partnership aims to accelerate the development of next-generation, high-quality LEV solutions for customers worldwide.
