Mumbai : In a strategic move to bolster its energy portfolio, Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL), one of India’s leading infrastructure companies, has acquired a 250 MW lignite-based power plant located in Neyveli, Tamil Nadu. The acquisition was executed through its energy subsidiary, MEIL Energy Private Limited, from Abu Dhabi’s TAQA Group.
With this acquisition, MEIL’s total power generation capacity has surpassed 5.2 GW, marking a significant step in the company’s transition from an EPC contractor to an integrated owner and operator of energy assets.
“This acquisition is a key milestone in our long-term strategy to develop sustainable and reliable energy projects,” said Mr. Salil Kumar Mishra, Chief Financial Officer of MEIL Group.
