Partnership enables two-way student and faculty exchange, joint research initiatives, and multidisciplinary learning aligned with NEP 2020
Karjat : Vijaybhoomi University (VU), India’s first Liberal Professional University, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BITS Pilani to establish a deeply integrated, two-way academic partnership. The collaboration aims to combine technical depth, liberal education, and cutting-edge research, marking a significant step forward in India’s higher education landscape.
The MoU builds on an existing academic relationship between Vijaybhoomi University and the Pilani Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Society (PIEDS), BITS Pilani, under a national initiative supported by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). As the Knowledge Partner for the Navonmesh Protsahan Spardha programme, Vijaybhoomi University is designing and delivering a structured entrepreneurial learning pathway for students from NSTIs, ITIs, and technical institutions across India, guiding them from idea validation to market-ready enterprises.
The partnership is rooted in a strong intellectual and institutional alignment. Vijaybhoomi University’s Founding President, Mr. Sanjay Padode, is an alumnus of BITS Pilani with a B.E. in Electrical and Electronics and an M.Sc. in Mathematics. Several academic practices at Vijaybhoomi University, including choice-based credit systems, flexible learning structures, student-led initiatives, and practice-oriented pedagogy, draw inspiration from BITS Pilani’s pioneering academic model. The MoU formalises this long-standing alignment.
Under the agreement, students from both institutions will benefit from reciprocal academic opportunities.
BITS Pilani students will be able to engage with Vijaybhoomi University’s multidisciplinary courseware and pathway-based programmes, including international semester-abroad options and potential dual-degree opportunities in creative fields such as the performing arts.
Vijaybhoomi University students will gain exposure to specialised engineering and technical programmes at BITS Pilani through semester exchange opportunities, strengthening their disciplinary depth.
Faculty collaboration forms a key pillar of the partnership. Faculty members from both institutions will participate in guest lectures, modular teaching, and short-term academic residencies, fostering cross-institutional learning, academic experimentation, and the exchange of ideas.
The collaboration also extends to joint research initiatives in emerging areas. Vijaybhoomi University’s work in AI governance, AI-enabled learning systems, and technology-driven educational infrastructure offers strong potential for collaboration with BITS Pilani’s established research ecosystem.
Both institutions align closely with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020, which emphasises flexibility, multidisciplinary education, credit mobility, and holistic student development. Vijaybhoomi University’s academic model is built around discovery, social responsibility, and professional readiness, values that resonate with BITS Pilani’s progressive legacy. This alignment was recently reflected in Vijaybhoomi University students winning the highest number of competitions at BITS Pilani’s cultural festival, Oasis 25.
The MoU represents a long-term commitment to co-creating academic models, research initiatives, and learning experiences that prepare students for a rapidly evolving global landscape
