The project marks Apraava’s third operational transmission asset, further strengthening its low-carbon portfolio
Mumbai: Apraava Energy, India’s leading integrated energy solutions provider, today announced the successful commissioning of the 22 kms, 400 kV Fatehgarh IV Transmission Line and 400/220 kV Pooling Substation in Barmer, Rajasthan. The project forms a critical part of the Transmission Scheme for the evacuation of power from Renewable Energy Zones (REZ) in Rajasthan (20 GW) under Phase-III Part A1 and will contribute meaningfully towards India’s target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
Fatehgarh IV Transmission Limited has a transmission capacity of 2.5 GW of renewable power through 5 x 500 MVA transformers, with the new line connecting to Apraava’s Fatehgarh-III substation. This integration significantly enhances the renewable power evacuation capability from the Jaisalmer–Barmer region.
The project was constructed amidst extreme weather conditions, land acquisition challenges, and temporary demobilisation due to border-related tensions and severe ROW challenges. Despite these challenges, this project is one of the fastest to be completed in Rajasthan among the various transmission schemes awarded under REZ Phase III in the state.

Apraava currently operates three power transmission assets spanning ~516 kms, across Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, and Manipur with a substation capacity of 3.5 GW. The company currently has three greenfield transmission projects under construction (~470 kms of transmission lines and grid substations with ~8 GW of combined capacity). These include, ~430 kms of 400 kV and 765 kV double-circuit transmission lines, along with 4×1500 MVA 765/400 kV, grid pooling station in Rajasthan, and a ~40 kms of 765 kV double-circuit transmission lines and a 2X1500 MVA 765/ 400 kV grid substation in Madhya Pradesh.
Apraava is a well-entrenched power player in Rajasthan and presently operates three wind energy projects in the state with a total capacity of over 250 MW in addition to three solar energy projects adding to 550 MW which are under construction. Apraava’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) business also has a strong presence in Rajasthan, with an order of installing over 1.1 million smart meters. In addition, Apraava continues to strengthen water security in the Thar Desert region through multiple water conservation initiatives. The company also supports girls’ education by facilitating the reintegration of 3,000 out-of-school girls into mainstream education in the aspirational block of Fatehgarh.
