Mumbai : NowYouKnow (NYK), India’s first social-led travel and food recommendation platform, has introduced Rewards, a new in-app feature designed to recognise users for sharing genuine, verified recommendations. The addition reinforces NYK’s core belief that discovery should be driven by trust, not algorithms, by rewarding real-world experiences over performative content.”

At its core, Rewards is designed to recognise effort. Instead of pushing constant posting, it celebrates users who actually go to a place, experience it, and share an honest recommendation with their network. That kind of lived experience carries more weight, and the feature is built to reward exactly that. Users earn 150 NYK Coins for every verified recommendation, confirmed when a post is created from the location or includes photos taken there. Weekly challenges, like trying an Italian restaurant or exploring a specific category, unlock 500 coins per completed challenge. Inviting friends earns 300 coins per referral once they share their first verified recommendation. To protect quality, only the first five verified recommendations each week earn full value, with a weekly cap of 1,000 coins. Coins can be redeemed for gift cards.

Founded by siblings Krishna and Pia Shivdasani, NowYouKnow was built to reflect how people actually discover places today: through friends, personal networks, and a small circle of creators whose taste they trust. Rewards strengthen that mission by recognising thoughtful, trusted recommendations rather than frequent or trend-led sharing. Speaking about the feature launch, Krishna Shivdasani, Co-Founder and CEO of NowYouKnow, said: “Discovery today is noisy. Everyone is recommending everything, all the time. NYK Coins is not about gamifying content, it is about recognising intention. When someone takes the time to visit a place, experience it fully, and recommend it honestly, that effort deserves to be valued

The launch of Rewards comes at a time when discovery feels increasingly fragmented, scattered across WhatsApp chats, screenshots, saved videos, and unreliable online reviews. By encouraging users to consolidate trusted recommendations in one private, personal space, NowYouKnow brings order to how modern travellers and food lovers plan, save, and revisit places. The feature reinforces a simple idea: the most meaningful recommendations do not come from anonymous ratings or algorithm-led reach, but from people you know and whose taste you trust.
