• Recognition highlights Flipkart Foundation’s livelihood-focused skilling model enabling sustainable employment outcomes at scale

Mumbai : The Flipkart Foundation has been recognised with the ‘Best Skill Development Initiative’ award at the 16th CSR Summit & Awards 2026 by UBS Forums. The recognition reflects the Foundation’s focus on building livelihood-linked skilling programmes that enable sustainable employment for underserved communities.

Over the past three years, the programme has trained over 9,000 individuals, with nearly 60% placement rates and average monthly earnings of over ₹13,000, positively impacting more than 28,000 family members.

As India’s digital economy expands, the Flipkart Foundation is focussed on addressing the gap between education and actual employability. Launched in 2022, its initiatives are built as end-to-end programmes that integrate training, certification, placement, and post-placement support. This structured, livelihood-focused approach ensures that beneficiaries are not only skilled but are also successfully integrated into the workforce.

This focus on outcomes is reflected in strong placement rates and sustained income generation across sectors such as BPO, IT-ITES, Retail, and BFSI.

Designed with inclusion at its core, the initiative prioritises participation from women, rural youth, persons with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ individuals, addressing structural barriers to employment through tailored training, counselling, and employer sensitisation.

Puja Trisal, Director, Flipkart Foundation, said, “There is a need to move beyond training to livelihood outcomes. Our focus at Flipkart Foundation has been on building programmes that connect skilling with real employment opportunities. This recognition reflects the impact of that approach and our continued commitment to scale it further.”

Loghman Tavasoli, Chief Operations Officer, UBS Forums, said, “As India continues to prioritise skill development, there is a growing need for models that connect training with real economic opportunity. Flipkart Foundation’s skilling initiatives are a strong example of how collaborative, inclusion-led programmes can deliver both scale and depth of impact across communities.”

The Foundation collaborates with a strong network of partners, including Pratham InfoTech Foundation, Smile Foundation, and Vipla Foundation, to deliver contextualised, industry-aligned training across multiple sectors such as retail, BFSI, IT, and trades. By combining digital learning tools with on-ground training through a hybrid model, the programme enhances accessibility, improves learning outcomes, and ensures higher retention. A structured post-placement support system further strengthens job continuity and career progression for beneficiaries.
