• Advanced ring rolling to boost domestic manufacturing.
  • To serve high-growth sectors including defence, aerospace, wind energy, nuclear power, oil and gas, mining, heavy engineering and marine.

Mumbai: Balu Forge Industries Ltd, a leading force in heavy engineering and precision machining, has announced the successful acquisition of a state-of-the-art ring rolling production line capable of producing forged rings up to 6.7 meters in Outer Diameter (OD). With this acquisition, Balu Forge Industries Ltd becomes one of the largest ring rolling facilities in India, significantly expanding the nation’s domestic heavy manufacturing capabilities.

This strategic acquisition represents a paradigm shift for Balu Forge Industries Ltd and the Indian manufacturing ecosystem. By commissioning machinery of this unprecedented scale, the company is perfectly positioned to meet the escalating demands of next-generation infrastructure, heavy industry, and advanced technology sectors. Balu Forge Industries Ltd is now better positioned to drastically reducing the reliance on imported ultra-large forged & precision machined parts. The ring rolling production line will commence the production trial before the end of 2026.

Trimaan Chandock, Executive Director, Balu Forge Industries Ltd said, “This is a landmark moment not just for Balu Forge Industries Ltd, but for the Indian manufacturing sector as a whole. Bringing one of the largest ring rolling machines in the country empowers us to forge components of staggering scale and complexity. We are unlocking new frontiers in renewable energy, defence, and heavy industries, proving that world-class, ultra-large-scale manufacturing is thriving right here in India.”

The ring rolling production line is equipped with maximum outer diameter of up to 6.7 metres and maximum ring weight of up to 18,000 Kgs (18 metric tons) per product. This acquisition adds 18,000 tons of specialized heavy ring rolling capacity with a high-value-addition product line. The sheer scale and precision of this new equipment unlock unprecedented opportunities across a diverse range of critical industries.

With the capacity to forge seamless rings weighing up to 18,000 kgs, Balu Forge Industries Ltd will now supply foundational components for diverse sectors.

  • Wind energy sector: Ring rolling production line will manufacture mega-scale tower flanges, yaw rings, pitch bearings, and slewing rings crucial for highly efficient, next-generation onshore and offshore wind turbines.
  • Aerospace and defence domain: It will forge high-integrity structural rings, rocket motor casings, engine components, and missile silos that demand flawless metallurgical properties. This includes specialized turbine engine components such as seamless rings for jet engine casings, compressor drums, and turbine shrouds. Additionally, it encompasses high-precision outer and inner bearing rings utilized in aerospace actuation and drivetrain systems.
  • Space Launch vehicle structures: It will produce high-strength structural rings, adapter flanges, and rocket motor casing segments.
  • Nuclear and power generation sector: It will produce seamless retaining rings, large generator components, and pressure vessel rings that meet the stringent safety standards of modern power plants.
  • Oil and gas sector: It will deliver robust subsea connectors, blowout preventers (BOPs), large industrial valves, and pipeline flanges built to withstand extreme deep-sea pressures.
  • Heavy machinery, mining and marine sector: It will supply massive gear blanks, bearing races, excavator slewing rings, and marine propulsion shaft components for the world’s most demanding environments.
  • Heavy Railway & Mining Transporters: Manufacturing for Custom heavy-haul railway machinery, massive cranes, and specialized industrial tunnel-boring rail systems which require oversized rolled components and wheels.
