Auckland: On the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day, Bank of India (New Zealand) Limited launched its new mobile banking application, “BOINZ – Freedom”, at a special gathering hosted in Auckland in the presence of around 500 guests. The application was formally inaugurated by the Consul General of India, Auckland, marking a significant milestone in Bank of India’s journey of strengthening its digital banking presence in New Zealand. The MD & CEO of the parent Bank, Bank of India, Shri Rajneesh Karnatak, addressed the gathering through a video message. It’s pertinent to mention that the first overseas branch of Bank of India was opened in London, United Kingdom, in 1946. At present, Bank of India has a presence in 15 countries, viz. USA, Cayman Islands, United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, UAE, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, New Zealand and Japan, with a presence across five continents.

BOI has had a presence in New Zealand since 2011 through its WoS, BOI(NZ)L, with two branches at Auckland and Papatoetoe.

MD & CEO has mentioned that with a legacy of over 12 decades, Bank of India has built its reputation on trust, customer service and enduring relationships. The launch of Freedom reflects the Bank’s commitment to bringing this trusted legacy together with modern digital technology, offering customers greater convenience, choice and control over their banking experience. The launch on India’s Independence Day carries special significance, with Freedom symbolising the freedom to bank anytime, anywhere, and embracing new possibilities through digital banking.

The initiative also reinforces Bank of India’s philosophy of “Relationship Beyond Banking” combining technology and innovation with the personal trust and relationships that have remained at the heart of the Bank for more than 12 decades.

The key features of the app include “Remittances – Domestic (New Zealand) and International to India, Biometric Authentication, Secure m-PIN Login, TDS Certificate Download, Account Statement Download – Savings/Current/Loan Accounts and Scheduled Payments.”
