Bengaluru: SBI General Insurance, one of India’s leading general insurance providers and a key implementing insurer under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), will participate in the Government of India’s Meri Policy Mere Haath (MPMH) campaign for Kharif 2026. The initiative aims to deliver crop insurance policies directly to farmers and strengthen on‑ground awareness about the PMFBY scheme.
The policies will be distributed across nine major states – Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Assam, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Jharkhand. SBI General Insurance will work closely with State Governments and local stakeholders to facilitate the distribution of crop insurance policy documents and enhance outreach efforts for farmers.
As part of the campaign, the company will support policy distribution camps backed by Fasal Bima Pathshalas, Kisan Melas, and Kisan Goshtis. Additionally, SBI General will organize two Government‑of‑India‑led initiatives under PMFBY: International Year of Women Farmers (IYWF) and PMFBY@10 Farmer Champions.
The International Year of Women Farmers (IYWF) will feature specialized women farmer led workshops focused on educating and enrolling more women farmers under the scheme. To further strengthen outreach, special engagement activities featuring beneficiaries from the past ten years of PMFBY will be conducted across various states in alignment with Government communication strategies. These beneficiaries will be recognized as PMFBY@10 Farmer Champions, and a dedicated meet will be organized to foster awareness and motivate the broader farming community.
Overall, these initiatives aim to create interactive platforms where farmers can engage in discussions, share feedback, and seek guidance ultimately enhancing awareness and encouraging deeper participation in the PMFBY scheme.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Naveen Chandra Jha, MD & CEO, SBI General Insurance, said: “For every farmer, knowing their crop is protected brings a sense of security that goes far beyond a policy document. Meri Policy Mere Haath is a powerful initiative that ensures this reassurance reaches them directly, strengthening trust in the crop insurance system. Through our outreach across nine states, we want farmers to feel supported, informed, and confident that PMFBY stands beside them in times of uncertainty. As their implementing insurance partner, we are committed to walking with them, shoulder to shoulder, and empowering their journey toward resilience and stability.”
With the Meri Policy Mere Haath campaign, SBI General Insurance continues its mission to bring protection and clarity closer to farmers. By delivering policy documents at their doorstep and engaging them through continuous communication, the company strives to deepen understanding of PMFBY and help farmers make secure, informed decisions for their livelihoods. The initiative reflects SBI General Insurance’s belief that meaningful insurance goes beyond coverage – it builds confidence, connection, and a safer future for farming communities.
