Hyderabad: The next wave of technological innovation may not be about creating better chatbots or generating digital content—it could be about making roads, factories, power plants and cities smarter. As governments and businesses invest in technologies that enable physical infrastructure to sense, analyse and respond to real-world conditions, the focus is steadily shifting towards what is being described as Physical Intelligence.

That shift received a significant boost on Tuesday with Hyderabad-based infrastructure major Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL) and technology company Analog announcing a strategic joint venture to develop Physical Intelligence solutions in India. The new venture, Spatial Cognition Technologies Pvt Ltd, will focus on applications across infrastructure, mobility, industrial systems, public safety and urban transformation by combining MEIL’s infrastructure execution capabilities with Analog’s expertise in sensing, robotics, spatial computing and digital twins.

Unlike Generative AI, which has largely transformed digital workflows, Physical Intelligence seeks to make physical assets more aware, connected and responsive. By integrating sensors, robotics, digital twins and real-time operational intelligence, the technology aims to help infrastructure monitor conditions, anticipate disruptions and improve decision-making across transport networks, utilities, industries and cities.

For MEIL, the venture represents a strategic move beyond building infrastructure to enabling intelligent infrastructure. Managing Director PV Krishna Reddy said the company sees connected and adaptive systems as the future of large-scale infrastructure development.

“This partnership reflects our belief that the future of infrastructure will be intelligent, connected and adaptive,” Reddy said, adding that the collaboration would help create next-generation capabilities with applications across industries, cities, infrastructure and communities.

Analog founder and Chief Executive Officer Alex Kipman said India offers a unique combination of engineering talent, digital capability and infrastructure ambition that makes it an ideal market for developing and deploying Physical Intelligence technologies.

“We believe Physical Intelligence will define a major part of the next technological era, and India is uniquely positioned to help shape that future,” Kipman said. He added that the partnership combines Analog’s innovation capabilities with MEIL’s ability to execute complex infrastructure projects at scale.
